Carpet Cleaning: Do you recommend, Dry Chem. Solutions or Steam Vacs to clean carpets?
I have used Capture (dry chemical powder) and I use to own a Hoover Steam Vac. I am trying to decide which is better for my carpet and me, my family and pets. As far as cleaning ability I think that some stains are just meant to come back.
I used Chem dry and liked them. We had white carpet and 5 kids and it was a mess. He came in and there was no funky smell while he was there and it dried amazingly fast. It was totally dry in 2 hours. And the spots all came out. You really have to spring for the biggest package they offer though. The biggesr package you go with, the deeper the cleaning and the more likely those spots wont come back. They also offer antibacterial solution with the biggest package. The kids could come back in right away if they wanted. Well worth it though! Call them, good luck!

Great buy! It works great. Clean very well, but in reality some stubborn stains and a little elbow grease 'in advance is necessary. Overall, perfect for what you pay for. I had no problems with traffic at all, because I thoroughly cleaned and I held for three months. There is a problem of slight loss for some reason, but I think it is only with the switch to use the tubes to the main body. But it is not as big a problem for me, nothing is perfect.

Ordered steam vac Sunday and received it today with the one day shipping. Got it out of the box, put it together and used it on the area rug! Carpet is now clean and I'm so happy. Amazing how disgusting the dirty water was! I had the hoover widepath before and the container where you put the cleaner broke off. $50 for a new one so I held it in place when I used it. A few months ago I turned the brushes off to use attachment and when I went to turn brushes on again, they wouldn't turn. I couldn't figure out the problem and husband wouldn't look at it so I put it in the trash after using the attachment one more time to clean spots on the rug. Less than two weeks later and somehow the dog and kids had the carpet looking awful again. After researching I found this to be the best one, especially for the price. The widepath was more expensive and probably did just as good at cleaning. Since there aren't separate containers for clean water and soap in this new one, I don't have to worry about that part breaking and hopefully this one will last me a long time. Only used once so far but am very happy!

What I needed
I bought this for the value. I didn't want to spend 300+. I thought this product was highly reviewed and took the leap. I used it once in my living room and it removed so much dirt that it was caked at the bottom of the container when done. Usually I get dirty water but this sucked up a lot. I was really impressed with the drying time. I did this at 10pm, but a box fan down, woke up at 6:30 and it felt like I never did it. Carpet was really clean. I recommend using spot cleaner for tough areas, the clean surge does drain the solution so use sparingly. Very satisfied.

Awesome Hoover Rug Shampooer!
I have been disabled for over 6 years thus unable to properly care for my carpet. My health has improved to the point I can work from a rolling chair and I read various reviews about this product before making my final decision. The reviews that stated this machine could clean carpets that were unattended for years and they came out sparkling clean won me over. The set up was easy (even I can do it) and the results are unbelievable. I had a stain from when my daughter was 4 that would not come out & it's gone! Gone, Gone, Gone. I would recommend this cleaner to anyone who has a challenge in both a dirty carpet and a challenge in mobility. I can move it from my chair. Fill up and clean up is a breeze. I give it 5 stars...would give it 10 if it went higher.

LOVE IT!
I just got the SpinScrub Steam Vac and LOVE it! I saw a noticeable difference in my carpets after one use and not to mention using very little detergent that it came with. I have Berber carpet in my apartment. I had not cleaned my carpet for 3 years. (I know it's gross) But I used the hoover exactly how the instructions say and my carpets in the HIGH traffic areas looked like new. I had a Bissel before this and hated it. I hope you love your new SteamVac like I do.

I'm a believer!
I had planned on getting a different steam cleaner but after reviewing both that one and this one, I decided on the SteamVac. After using it, now I'm a believer. It picked up an astonishing amount of dirt. It was fairly easy to use once I got the hang of it. Had no problems with leaks or anything like that. Scared the bejesus out of me everytime the dirty water vessel became full; the manual says the motor sound gets higher...uh no kidding significantly higher, louder, but it's just noise. Fairly intuitave, I like that you can turn the motor on with your foot and relatively easy to move around. Takes almost no time to assemble, needing only a Phillips head screwdriver. Comes with a small bottle of cleaner, worth about 3 tanks.
I've used a number of different shampooers (I worked as a custodian for a time.) and as a non-commercial shampooer/steam cleaner this is excellent. I've found that Hoover make really fine quality rug cleaners that provide more bang for their buck than some other brands. Recommended.

Great Investment
As the owner of one naughty dog and another sensitive stomach dog, this carpet cleaner has saved me money, hands-and-knees-scrubbing, and sanity. I purchased this after my dog got a canister of cocoa powder, chewed it open, and licked it into my living room carpet. I would have been happy if it just lightened the stain, but after a little work, I can't tell where the cocoa massacre happened at all. Cleaning up dog accidents takes, at most, a quarter of the time it used to with much better results. Spills of any kind are a quick fix. We were able to quickly dry our carpets after a severe roof leak. We were able to move furniture back into place in a few hours. Filling and emptying are quick and simple. Furniture attachments did wonders for our couches. Minimal leaks, only when the cleaner is tilted to a sharp angle or the hose attachment is not properly hung. If it leaks, it's easy to fix with a quick run-over with the machine. Love it and I don't want to imagine my home without it!
